Journal Contents
These ideas started out as ponderings from either late at night, or [relatively] early morning. I started writing late one night. Or, actually early the next morning. I wrote the second entry the next morning (morning morning, after I had slept and awakened). For a while the rest follow the same pattern; one is written approximately 2AM on some calendar day, the next is written at 11AM or noon the next. Some are later. After perhaps a week, I abandoned this pattern in favor of a less disciplined approach: I write stuff when I feel like it. I'm afraid I have no dates listed (yes, this is by intention), so sometimes journal entries are mere days apart, while other times there may be a gap the size of a month.
I rarely write stuff for the Philosophy Sector, so I figured I'd just put these up. Abridged, of course. There are things in here I'm not ready for people to read; other things, such as names, have been removed into generic "that person', 'my friend', 'that girl', 'my brother', 'he', 'she', and the like. But there should be some good stuff here.
I've decided not to bother making the "Next Entry" link on the last page point back here; I'll just let it point to the (nonexistant) next page. Save time in editing, and who really cares anyway -- so you get a 404. Deal with it.
I've censored out critical names and such in here, replacing "Alice" with "that girl from high school" or some other quick background info for your reading ease. In cases where I've felt a name was important to keep in, I've used Alice and Alfred, Becky and Bob, Cindy and Charles, and however far down the alphabet I need to go. Alices in different pieces aren't generally the same girl, and when it is it's fairly obvious by the context. Editorial comments, including Alice and Bob, are colored green. "My friend from elementary school" comments are yellow, to fit in with the rest.
There used to be a "final note" here about not trying to decipher your own appearance in here (if indeed you are). I've decided I don't mind anymore; if you want to see yourself and see how I think about you, that's fine with me. I am, and always have been, an open person, and though I used to be a bit concerned about certain parties reading certain parts of this journal, at this point I'm really quite comfortable with anyone knowing anything in here.
Also, I'm considering changing the current naming convention with a system that will allow one person to remain one name throughout. This will require a major overhaul of my past journals (if I make it retroactive, as I should), so I may not do it, after all, but it's something to keep in mind - why am I telling you this?
New treat, kids. I've posted my chapel credit submissions from Spring 2002 at LeTourneau.
