Ambition
I want to be a man who’ll understand
Anything that in your life may come.
And anytime you want, you’ll have my hand
In anything I can’t protect you from.
I want to be there always for your needs
So pain or hurt you never will go through.
I want to love so much that my heart bleeds
On thought about the things I cannot do.
I’ll try my best and work to be the man
That is the best that you could ever know.
And I’ll try harder still – if it’s God’s plan –
To cultivate our love and make it grow.
But I know the truth – however hard I try,
However much I love you, there will be
Someone who loves you always more than I.
